Food Insecurity 101

So not only like sharing a meal, but actually the process of growing food is a way of connecting people and passing down stories literally in the form of a seed. That’s like a story that I think can be passed down from one generation to another.

Food insecurity is an urgent topic of as late. A person is deemed food insecure when they lack stable and regular access to affordable and nutritious meals. According to the latest Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC), nearly 282 million people in 59 countries and territories experienced high levels of acute hunger in 2023.1 Food insecurity can be defined as the inverse of food security. According to Food Foward, can be defined as access to healthy food that results in positive and long-term health and nutritional outcomes. The Center for Studies in Food Security has laid out the basic parameters of food security, referring to them as the five As. The five As of Food Security are Availability, Accessibility, Adequacy, Acceptability, and Agency.2
